Identity & identity verification

Proof, not just a signature.

When a signed document is challenged, District Seal produces the record: who signed, when, from where, on what device — cryptographically bound to the document and independently verifiable by any party.

Zero-media retention. Voice and video are processed on your device. We store only the SHA-256 cryptographic hash and the forensic timeline — never the biometric media. GDPR and CCPA compliant. All data hosted in the United States.

The ceremony

Three steps. One court-ready certificate.

Every District Seal transaction runs through the same ceremony — the same sequence of identity checks, in the same order, with the same forensic record produced every time.

01

You upload the document

Add the contract, name the signer, choose the attestation type. Templates let you reuse standard agreements without re-uploading.

02

The signer proves identity

WebAuthn hardware check, forced document scroll, informed consent, spoken challenge phrase, head-turn presence check, and a face match against the reference. All in one sitting.

03

We issue the certificate

A signed PDF, watermarked and stamped with the transaction reference and document hash. A public QR resolves to a live verification page anyone can load.

The certificate

This is what every signing produces.

A five-page certificate bound to the document's SHA-256 hash, with the full forensic timeline of the signing ceremony. Below is a complete sample — the same template every District Seal customer receives, populated with a demo NDA.

Note: the signer, IP, and document in this sample are fictional. Every field above is populated by the same generator that produces real certificates.

The distinction

A signature is easy.
A defensible record is hard.

Most e-signature tools prove that a document was signed. District Seal proves that a specific, verified human signed it — with the evidence needed to say so in a dispute.

01 — Identity

Biometric, not checkbox.

Face match against the signer's reference photo. Voice challenge against a randomized phrase. Head-turn presence check. Hardware-backed device authentication. Not a checkbox that says "I am who I say I am" — an evidentiary record of the signer at the moment of signing.

02 — Verification

Any party can confirm.

Every certificate carries a QR that resolves to a public verification page. No login, no phone call, no waiting. A counterparty, a court, an auditor — anyone can confirm the record in seconds.

03 — Integrity

Bound to the document.

The certificate holds the SHA-256 of the exact document signed. Change one character and the seal breaks. The manifest chains the entire ceremony into a single tamper-evident hash.

Built for

Where the stakes justify the record.

Any agreement where "they signed it" is not enough — where you need to prove who signed, and that they were present, willing, and identified.

Law firms & notaries

Engagement letters, affidavits, powers of attorney, and settlement agreements where identity is material to enforceability.

Real estate agencies

Lease agreements and purchase contracts where the signer's verified identity eliminates later disputes about who actually signed.

HR departments

Offer letters, NDAs, and internal approvals with an audit trail that survives turnover and contested terminations.

Government agencies

Public-facing attestations where citizen identity and recorded consent are non-negotiable, and public verification is required.

Financial institutions

Loan agreements, authorizations, and regulated disclosures where KYC/AML documentation matters and litigation is plausible.

Freelancers, churches, schools, hospitals, individuals

Any agreement where the signer's identity should be provable later — consent forms, waivers, contracts, and personal arrangements.

Compliance & standards

Built for legal proceedings.

District Seal is engineered against the standards that determine whether a signed document holds up when it matters — in court, in audit, or in dispute.

U.S. e-signature law
ESIGN Act & UETA

Meets the four federal requirements for electronic signature validity: intent to sign, consent to do business electronically, attribution of the signature, and retention of records.

Identity assurance
NIST SP 800-63-3 AAL2

WebAuthn / FIDO2 hardware-backed authentication at the assurance level required for government and financial identity proofing.

Document integrity
SHA-256 binding

Every certificate is cryptographically bound to the exact document that was signed. Change one byte and the seal breaks.

Record retention
7-year standard

Transaction records kept 7 years, per U.S. standards for signed instruments. Biometric media is destroyed immediately after each ceremony — before the certificate is issued.

Data handling
GDPR & CCPA deletion requests honored

All data hosted in the United States. Deletion and access requests from data subjects are honored within 30 days. Data processing agreement available on request.

Public verifiability
Open verification, no login

Every certificate carries a public URL that resolves to a live record. Anyone — counterparty, auditor, court — can confirm without an account.

District Seal is operated by NEXSIM LLC, Montana, United States. Data hosted in the USA. Full detail in the Privacy Notice.

Questions

Before you commit.

Is the certificate admissible in court?
The certificate is a signed PDF containing the document hash, the verified identity record, the full forensic timeline of the ceremony, and a public URL that resolves to a live verification page. Admissibility is determined by the court in any given jurisdiction, but the certificate is designed to satisfy the evidentiary requirements of civil proceedings in the jurisdictions we operate in. Our legal team can provide a declaration on request.
How do you verify identity?
Six checks, run in sequence, on the signer's own device: (1) WebAuthn hardware-backed device authentication — platform authenticator, biometric sensor, or security key; (2) forced document scroll — the signer must reach 100% of the document; (3) informed consent — an affirmative statement, recorded; (4) spoken challenge phrase — a randomized three-word phrase the signer must say aloud on camera; (5) head-turn presence check — left, then right, on cue; (6) face match — a presence check frame compared against the reference photo you provided at upload. Every step is timestamped and recorded in the transaction's forensic event log.
What information does District Seal store?
We keep the document, the reference photo, the certificate, the forensic event log, the signer's IP address, the user-agent string, and (when provided) a device fingerprint. We do not keep raw biometric media. Voice recordings and presence-check video are destroyed immediately after each ceremony — before the certificate is issued. Only the derived match result and the reference photo are retained. Transaction records are kept for 7 years, per U.S. record-keeping standards for signed instruments. Full detail is in our Privacy Notice.
Who can request the full record?
Only parties with a legal or contractual right to the document: the individual who signed, the organisation on whose behalf it was signed, courts, law enforcement, and parties named in the underlying agreement. Requests must come from an official email address belonging to the requesting organisation. Free email services are not accepted for third-party requests. The full request procedure is published on our verification page.
Can I cancel, and do I get a refund?
Yes to cancel — you can cancel at any time from your billing page. Access continues until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are not issued for partial months already billed. Full details on the Refund Policy page.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
Documents and records are stored on infrastructure operated by NEXSIM LLC in the United States. Access is restricted to you, the parties you invite to a transaction, and our staff for support and compliance purposes only. We do not sell or share data with third parties. Full detail in the Privacy Notice.
